Good morning Arlene R. O'Neil ... Welcome to the 'Anything But a Tired Barn' and as we work with Master Koda Select Publishing to highlight fantastic authors such as yourself. ... Before we start, I wanted to acknowledge we have just honored Veterans in this Nation, and I know how proud you are of your son Tanner's Service ... Thank You Arlene for providing the Family that allows Tanner to Serve ... And Thank You Tanner ... Your Service is most Honorable and Appreciated. ARO: Thank You Mitch... I am so Proud... We are so Proud...My son, SGT Tanner O'Neil, is a member of the United States Army and the joy, pride, and love of my life. After five tours of duty to active war zones... SGT O'Neil recently returned from his 5th combat tour. GMB: And who have you brought the barn with you today? *Huge Ruckus* ARO: Well... *distracted* When I mentioned I was going to visit your Barn, Rupert and Frosty got so excited ... There was no way they were not coming to help me with this interview about my latest book Broken Spokes. GMB: And I am sure they are going to have some fun butting heads with Butch abd Sundance ... the Nigerian Pygmy goats out back... ARO: They are on their way... GMB: And there they go... And I Thank You for sharing so much of your pride and passion ... Now I'm told your pride and passion includes writing and that you have a special book to share as well. ARO: Yes Mitch ... GMB: Your current book, Broken Spokes refers to broken bones, broken bike, and broken spirit. It speaks to the reader of determination, of survival, of inspiration... ARO: To me Broken Spokes is more than a well-written, interesting read. It is an inspirational collection of the memories of a courageous child who, in spite of physical and emotional suffering, grew into a compassionate, loving and valiant woman. GMB: And we always welcome more stories written about children and courage... ARO: Yes ... I hope so... GMB: But Broken Spokes is your story... Correct? ARO: Yes. Crippled at age six, I began an odyssey which consumed much of my life. Through my suffering I found ways to heal others... GMB: The head of your Family prepared to Serve... ARO: And in doing so, I saved myself... GMB: Others have said, "I could not put down Broken Spokes until the very last word echoed in my heart.” Judith M. Flynn * * * "I was so inspired by this book. I started out to read a couple of chapters before I went to sleep. Five hours later I had finished the book. I could not put it down. The author is an emotionally strong person, who has survived more than any average person could ever cope with, and come out on top. I recommend this very highly." Roseanne Savage. Tell me Arlene ... ARO: These are such kind words. GMB: Tell us more about you... ARO: Writing is what lights me up ... "Being a visual writer, I love seeing my work come to life ... To take the reader with me on a journey word by word ... To touch a reader whether through laughter or tears is what I am all about. GMB: Now you were born and raised in Connecticut... ARO: And moved to South Carolina to work on my second novel, which will relate the roller coaster life of being the parent of a Soldier on active duty. I feel the need to share my experience with other parents in hope of lessening their fears. GMB: And for my part, I want every one to know that you have edited certain of my novels and how appreciative I am for all your efforts ... Working with you has been a real pleasure. ARO: Yes ... In addition to being an author, I am an editor and proofreader. GMB: Wonderful Arlene ... Contributing so much ... Currently Arlene lives with her two Labradors, Holly and Bruno, and her adorable pet goats, Paxton, JaeJay, Rupert, Patches, and Frosty ... Speaking of which ... here they come ... ARO: There're Rupert ... where's Frosty? GMB: Oh there she is ... visiting over by the Coop... ARO: Figures ... Frosty can't resist a quick conversation with Kim Emerson's Chickens... You know these little goats are amazing characters who have helped me through some incredibly difficult times ... I love them dearly. I live on 3 ½ acres of land that I and my beloved animals enjoy and... GMB: Arlene ... *winking* Thank You so much for visiting with us here in the Barn today ... ARO: Oh ... *heh heh* My pleasure Mitch ... Bye for now... GMB: Be well ... Take care and so long for now Arlene... I look forward to the time we can again work together ... Oh and before I forget ... Arlene R. O'Neil may be contacted at [email protected]
