Jennifer Loiske, Author
GMB: Welcome again Jennifer Loiske! Indeed a colleague and brave soul, who, in this new and dynamic world of e-Publishing and Amazon book-selling is willing to part with her some of her wonderful work, Club Number Five, for the timely Amazon/Kindle price of .99 cents. This Blog is about Introducing great authors and writing gypsies willing to let their books and charms go for .99 cents and today we welcome author, Jennifer Loiske... It was not long ago you were welcomed to the 'Anything But a Tired Barn' and, we indeed welcome you once again to participate in the .99 Department we've opened up here in the Barn and now managed by some pretty incredible Book Gypsies *Smiling* JL: Thank You Mitch ... I enjoy traveling all the way from Finland to check in on you-- And well ... your 'Book Gypsies' too... GMB: Well you're not really travelling all the way from Finland *Blushing* And well ... You're really not checking in or anything like that..." *Blushing some more* JL: Mitch its just always real nice to visit you virtually, and to interview with you. Your support of my projects, my book series ... the book reviews and interviews you provide are so appreciated. GMB: And I do refer to you as 'colleague' in my introductory remarks, because the support, the collegiality really flows back and forth, making this such a wonder example of professionalism in our writing communities. Now, Jennifer ... In addition to the suggestion of ongoing professionalism and collegiality, What additional advice would you give to aspiring writers? JL: For an aspiring writer to dare to dream and never give up! If you’re willing to work hard you will achieve your dream one day. But if you think the big publishers, movie producers and agents are gonna come knocking on your door, while you just sit and wait…wake up! It takes a lot of hard work, sweat and tears before the success. GMB: So true ... So very true! Are there any tips you could give that you learned along your path of picking up the pen to having a published novel? JL: Be patient and don’t lose your faith in yourself. Make a ‘map’ and a schedule about what and when things and don’t fall on vanity publishing/agent. There are sharks out there, so no matter how could it might feel to have that ‘golden publishing agreement’ in your hands, keep your eyes open and head clear. Sometimes going Indie is better, sometimes a right publisher/agent can take you to the moon. GMB: And we've all fallen prey to the 'sharks' out there a time or two ... Sometimes we get a little too anxious and ... Well, now ... Do you plan on being a full time writer, or do you have other career plans? How long have you been writing? JL: A full time writer. I've been writing since I knew what to do with a pen and writing is the ‘thing’ I've always wanted to do. Besides, I feel as if I’m only in the beginning of my writing journey! GMB: You know, since this is the second time I've interviewed with you, I'd like you to introduce yourself in a little more depth ... I'd really like the reading public to get to know you as we in the writing community do... JL: Well ... I live in Finland in Naantali, which is a small sunny town on the southwest coast (mostly known of the Moomin Valley). I’m a pre-school teacher by profession, but I stayed home when my youngest daughter suffered brain fever, which developed severe epilepsy in 2004. I guess that’s when I first considered starting writing again as I had to stay awake and monitor her whilst she was sleeping and it can be really sleepy and boring when the house is quiet… GMB: You know ... I started writing given other, perhaps unrelated life experiences as well ... JL: And, I’m a workaholic and I always have a lot of projects going on at the same time. I write articles to the magazines and I’m a part of the team that makes Epilepsy Finland Magazine. I love chips, cheesy teen movies (and series too!), books, animals and I have a soft spot for the ones in need of a helping hand. A huge part of my royalties go to charity; mainly to help families with epileptic children but also to the epilepsy units in the hospitals. GMB: And this is the Jennifer Loiske I was hoping the readers and fans would get to know by your own word... Thank You Jennifer. Now, What do you write? Specific genres, ages groups, etc. First Novel in the Immortal Blood Series JL: I write Paranormal and Paranormal Romance stories for young adults and new adults. I've also tried my wings with the children’s stories but somehow I always find myself in the middle of vampires, shape shifters, witches and demons. GMB: What makes your writing unique? JL: That you have to ask from my readers... GMB: Well as one of your readers, and I have read Club Number Five, our featured book today, and I have just read and reviewed Lucas ... the second in the Immortal Blood Series... What I may suggest is that the strength of your characters and the strong stories conveyed leave me to the opinion your writing stands out as unique by the fact it is strong, intelligent writing in a genre that some might say is overtaxed with anything but strong and intelligent writing. JL: Thank You Mitch. GMB: Well deserved, you are very welcome ... Now, Jennifer Do you prefer Ebook, paperback, or hardcover? JL: Ebook and a paperback. I don’t care much about hardcovers. They’re not so easy to slip into the bag and besides they cost more than the other ones. GMB: What are you currently working on? JL: I’m finishing up a sequel to my Immortal Blood series and a book three of my Shape Shifter series. I’m also part of the Authors For Charity, which is an association of writers who are willing to donate stories for charity (all profits go to charity!) and we just launched our first charity book TALES OF AN OLD WIZARD (age 9+ and up) and are organizing another charity book for young adults. GMB: Outstanding. Thank You for again visiting with us Jennifer ... And where can your fans, readers and those interested in getting to know you and your work better find you for social networking, or to find your books when they want to purchase them?
