Wow ... I hope there is a lot more Adaptable Neo-Nature writing on the way...

Format: Paperback
I purchased the paperback version of the ANNT: Axiom I & II and, as advertised, this series is Science Fiction that a Grade 5 reader can start with if they don't mind being entertained a lot and presented with the opportunity to learn a lot as well. Interestingly, each book contains two novelette of the appropriate length for young readers (75-90 pages). What a great value. My understanding (as a Special Ed and Elementary teacher of 36 years) ANNT: Axiom is to encourage young readers to think about the future of science, technology, government and society. The story is about two young geniuses who want to solve world problems. They take on the challenge and invent Adaptable Neo-Nature Technology to compete with old Mother Nature (oMN) and provide solutions where old Mother Nature falls short. The stories take place all over the world and anywhere from Senate Hearing Chambers, to a Decision-Making Centre high in the Himalayas, to distressed farmland in Illinois, to a race course in Spain. There is action, interaction of young and old alike, some of whom understand, some who don't get it, and some who learn along the way. There is positive modelling written into these incredible stories. There is so much more to say about this material. It engages on so many levels that writing about everything is a challenge in and of itself. Suffice it to say, this SCI-FI series of books needs to be in libraries and schools. We have gone far too long without this kind of material to challenge our youth on so many important levels of 'What If' (critical) thinking, while keeping it interesting. I hope G Mitchell Baker is writing more ... we need him to keep writing and challenging our children to think about their future and how science, technology, government will determine the make-up of our society. Bravo G Mitchell Baker, ANNT: Axiom I may have been a little too much about the geniuses and scientists themselves, but when it got going in Axiom II what jam packed and entertaining storytelling with a purpose. I believe there are going to be a lot of kids reading these books and asking a lot of great questions. Can you imagine the Internet being used by kids to look up and figure things out rather than play mindless games? These books provide entertaining challenge, and a gateway for kids to enter into the world of critical thinking about important subject matter. Wow... I hope there is a lot more Adaptable Neo-Nature writing on the way...

This review is from: Soccer Tommies Baseball Mommies (Paperback)
Soccer Tommies Baseball Mommies is truly a joy to read. I loved this short story.
Let me start with the premise, then I'll continue with some bullets of pros and cons.
Paternal Twins Teddy and Terri Fabiano as sports lovers to the bone. The only difference between them is that one favors baseball while the other favors soccer.
Like any real brother and sister that love each other, they also can't stand each other and are constantly playing pranks on one another. Until the unexpected happens. Old Luke, a tornado, sweeps through the town and leave destruction in its wake. The entire town is devastated by the tornado and most of it comes crashing down, including one of the fields--more specifically the soccer field.
Forced to confront the reality that they must now share the baseball field, the town is even more angry. What true sports fan wouldn't be at the realization that they must share their beloved field?
In its entirety this story will make you laugh, giggle, sigh and pout, and at times talk out loud to the characters.
Let's start with the one and only Con:
1. At the very beginning of the story (the first chapter) I was a little confused because the 3 characters in that chapter all had T names. So since I was just becoming familiar with the story, I was a tad befuddled as I couldn't remember which T named character was who.
This however, clears up by the second chapter and all if fine after that.
Pros:
1. The story is well written and super engaging. And while written for youth, any person (or sports fan) of any age can appreciate it.
2. There are real human emotions nicely weaved thoroughly through the story and it makes you connect to it in a special way.
3. The characters come to life, and you can almost hear their voices and accents as you read along. This is the sign of a well written book.
4. The twins were fantastic and I loved their genuine sibling connection-slash-rivalry. One on my favorite characters was the mayor.
5. The imagery is there and you feel like your in the town, with the town's people.
All in all this story did have a lesson to teach, and that is, that when push comes to shove, people that really care about each other stick together. Moreover, when they DO stick together they can get marvelous things accomplished.
A Plus read. I highly recommend it!

Soccer (Football) and Baseball - how could I not?, 4 July 2014

This review is from: Soccer Tommies, Baseball Mommies (Kindle Edition)
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Combining two pastimes that I enjoy watching, and have enjoyed in partaking over the years, I couldn't say no to this opportunity.
This book is a young adult tale with a difference. When you pick up a YA you often presume they all lead the same way - modern struggles and relationship troubles... well sure there's some of that here, but not how you think.
There is also a deep moral understanding in this book that is one we should all aspire to taking on board - the moral of sharing even when we don't believe we should.
After old Luke swept through town and caused havoc, the Soccer Tommies and Baseball Mommies find themselves having to split their share of the Old B between practice times so that both teams can still practice while town repairs are under way. Neither side are impressed with this revelation and devise a plan to have all or nothing - but as we know - the best laid plans of mice and men.... well you know how that goes.
With back and forth banter, and good old humour, you find yourself becoming immersed in the tale and rooting for one side or the other. Are you a Soccer Tommie? Or a Baseball Mommie?
Are you undecided? Read this moral filled story in order to find out.
I loved the moral of having to share what we see as ours, and learning how to share is what matters most in life. G Mitchell Baker has brought that moral to life in his latest book, and he awaits your take on one of the biggest lessons in life.

This review is from: Lethal Believers - DVM (Kindle Edition)
This well written book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is definitely not predictable nor is it a typical paranormal story. The sophistication in the writing will keep you guessing. The writing is clever, precise, clear and at the same time complex. Each passage goes down easier than a Stella Artois on a hot summer day.
The myths and the characters were fascinating and yet I had a difficult time reading some of the tragedies that took place on the pages of this book. I wanted to close my eyes or look away but at the same time like an automobile accident I couldn't look away. I needed to know the outcome.
This story with all it's intrigue and suspense will certainly grab your attention and the grip will hold you all the way through.
"Looking up. Danta rears his head back, all the while locking a stare with Emerine, her chilling eyes follow his hand, raising the stein of beer between them. Placing the mug to his lips, he takes a long draw of the draught. Anticipating the effect of the beer will be to continue to counter the effect of the lingering altitude sickness, Danta prepares for his exchange with his new, unexpected, but always to be expected patio guest." http://tinyurl.com/mkmgyym

Book review By M. Sharek on April 11, 2017
Therapists hear this echo from children repeatedly. “Mom & Dad are always arguing, watching TV or at work. I have no one to talk to I’m so lonely.” In The Involvement of Emerson (Volume I), Jon Emerson moves out. How did he lose his children? He misses his girls, Sandra, Emma, and Anna, and wonders how will he again win them over to be a great Dad again? Through a remarkable set of circumstances, Jon becomes re-involved in his children’s lives.
In The Consistency of Emerson (Volume II), Jon struggles, but learns to be consistently involved if his next step is for him to be, and remain a great Dad. In The Awareness of Emerson (Volume III) Jon and his girls are comfortable enough to begin personal enquiries related to events and surroundings, which Jon elaborates on with great enthusiasm. Over time, Jon recognizes growth in their knowledge, which helps to narrow the gap in their communication and love for each other. A win-win for all and an exhilarating feeling Jon had not anticipated ever experiencing again.
Before I reached page 200 of The Awareness of Emerson, I had decided to buy a box full of this book to gift to family and friends. The Emerson Series is true literary storytelling that tells about, and gets one thinking more about families, fathers, and relationships. This father friendly storytelling is written in a wonderful, unique, and tasteful presentation that leaves me to consider that this read is heads above anything I have read from the major publishers of late. I have read Involvement, Consistency, and now Awareness and this Emerson Series is getting better and better. You know what… just because those larger publishers missed this great author, and his story telling, does not mean you have to miss out as well… I'm writing this review because out of the millions of books out there, this book is one to grab up and to enjoy during your quiet times this summer. I believe it is a true contribution to family literature that deserves to be purchased, read, and gifted.

ANNT: Axiom I & II
ANNT: Axiom III & IV
The Adaptable NeoNature Technology Series
A Series in Social/Science Fiction for Young Readers
By G. Mitchell Baker
Review by Dale Krenz, April , 10, 2017
Format: Paperback/Kindle
ANNT Axiom 1 through 4 entertains the science fiction concept of a unification of bio science, genetics and quantum supercomputing to advance a theory of utilizing the blue print of Old Mother Nature to usher in ANNT. Adaptable Neo- Nature Technology will create an entirely new form of nature that is controlled, contrived, and made wholly available to Man for his benefit.
G. Mitchell Baker presents this concept through Senate intelligence meeting’s in which government officials are informed about what ANNT is and how it has existed and is currently being used and deployed around the world. Doctors Gens and Doceo are the two brilliant young scientists who developed ANNT and as was explained, the most successful species on Earth is of course ants. Ants fill most niches on our planet and with this, they have adapted to the countless biospheres present in our world. These specializations are exploited by Gens and Doceo to fit specific types of ants for distinct tasks and missions. These creatures, scaled up to human size with incorporated genetics and quantum computers, represent a formidable new tool for mankind, from search and rescue and agriculture, too potentially more nefarious practices. Although Gens and Doceo co-developed ANNT, their perspectives and end usage of ANNT, the author alludes to us to believe, could be entirely different.
Pismire Technologies Corporation is the business end of ANNT and as such is divided into 2 divisions, civilian and military. Most applications that G. Mitchell Baker describes are of civilian variety but as any good author does, the implication is that there is more, much more to the story. To install an essentially new host of species in amongst us, that is daily; presence would become a new norm, presents infinite scenarios.
ANNT is a fascinating look into the future. A work left wide open. Perhaps a utopian society with scaled up insects to do our work … perhaps something more sinister in the making? We will only find out as G. Mitchell Baker continues with this superb series and the consequences elaborated.

A Novel and Challenging Read
I am an avid reader, but I have never ventured into the science-fiction genre. G. Mitchell Baker’s ANNT is a stimulating introduction to this rich and fascinating literature.
Arguing the limits of Mother Nature, doctors Doceo and Gens grow ants to human scale to address difficult and intractable societal problems. They developed “Adaptable Neo-Nature Technology” (ANNT) to respond to panoply of human calamities ranging from rescuing people from burning buildings to foiling terrorist attacks. Baker credibly weaves his narrative from a strong grounding in engineering, quantum computing, genetics, bio-molecular physics, and bio-medical printing. While this novel explores the interactivity of science, technology, and nature, my interest was sparked by Baker’s examination of relevant moral, ethical, and economic issues.
Discussing the etiology of their choice of ants as a useful vehicle, Doceo and Gens describe the nature of social interaction in typical ant colonies. This led to commentary on the comparative efficacy of capitalist and communist economic systems. While governments maintain a keen interest in utilizing and controlling the fruits of the applied scientific thought, scientists often wish to ensure professional independence. Using the platform of “Senate Intelligence Hearings,” Baker skillfully demonstrates the tension between these adversarial perspectives. When presenting her findings to the “Doctoral Candidate Review Committee,” Dr. Doceo misrepresents some of her findings. Dr. Gens was the only person privy to Dr. Doceo’s devious behavior. Baker uses this scenario to explore the relationship, gender, and power issues in the scientific community.
G Mitchell Baker’s prose is clear, imaginative, and creative. His descriptions of scientific and technology are intricate and intriguing. I especially enjoyed his examination of concomitant economic, governmental, and interpersonal systems.

Destruction and Devastation—Yields Renewal and Salvation
By T. L. Needham, Author on August 18, 2015
Imagine you are an attorney, at the top of your game, highly respected, making tons of money, with an adoring wife and three beautiful daughters. Then, one morning as you step outside to get the newspaper, wearing nothing but your bathrobe, you hear the door lock behind you. Then a police car arrives to serve you a restraining order to stay away from your home, family, and wife . . .
Jonathan Wohlford Emerson is suddenly stripped and reduced to a miserable life as a homeless street person. And, being a lawyer, why should we really care? Ah, but no, we do care, because the one spark of love that still glows within him is that love for his three daughters. Plus, we must also care because he served his country as a Marine; trained to kill, with nearly 100 missions, consistently executed. He is not ordinary, he is in fact, extraordinary, but has lost his will and his way.
In this era of increasingly short attention spans, those seeking a ‘quick-fix’ or ‘instant gratification’ in reading may keep looking. This nearly 400-page story is revealed slowly like peeling an onion . . . And, like peeling an onion, you will shed a tear or two, before reaching the reward of sweet-succulent gratification.
Thus, if you seek a story about the human experience, grounded in the smelly, twisted grit of the real world . . . this is a must read. In the words of the protagonist, Jon Emerson: “My story begins with having to realize, and accept the fact I was systematically being destroyed. I left my home, rather than be dismantled within it.” On the streets, immersed into that dreadful community of lost and dangerous souls, Jon becomes known as ‘The Peacemaker’ while he continues to fight his own demons— “Unbeknownst to Jon, his tone changed from the despair of a caring father, to the anger of a disparaged veteran. Old, unhealed wounds saturated his conscious, and manipulated his pain.”
Then, a benevolent stranger gives him a remarkable gift, a classic antique pen. Jon names it “Covet” and this pen in his hand compels him to write his thoughts and ideas, intended for his beloved daughters, on another gift, a pack of paper napkins. Thus, begins a transformation of wondrous proportions to inspire souls across the earth. As Jon is awakened to his new reality: “ . . . he realized, more now than ever before, that to devolve had been necessary, for him to become, again involved.” And, he comes to know that he is— “No longer the arrogant legal professional and sovereign over meaningless relationships, Jon learns from meaningful friendships that to remain involved, is the essence of family.”
This magnificent story of a man, whose heart and soul is saturated with absolute love and devotion, endures destruction and devastation. Yet, finds his complete renewal and salvation by offering the same to others. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Soccer Tommies Baseball Mommies is a wonderful combination of competition and collaboration. When tragedy strikes in the form of a tornado, there is tension when the Old B has to be shared. G. Mitchell Baker does a nice job of interweaving very important lessons in terms of healthy sports competition between others in a very realistic way. The writing style is very engaging and did inspire a chuckle or two from each and every chapter. I can see quite a few of the events happening from the small town I grew up in.
This is an easy read for kids and a wonderful tool for teachers. I highly recommend!

Tornadoes, girls playing soccer…boys with baseball bats… G. Mitchell Baker has a talent of creating this easy-going atmosphere and bringing the reader in the eye of the story. Or in this case, should I say in the eye of a storm…
This story could tell about me or you or someone we know, as it is quite realistic and message in it ageless. In this story G. Mitchell Baker skillfully reminds the reader about the power of community and how things will work out if people just work together.
The town of Belleville has been hammered pretty badly by the tornado called Old Luke. Soccer players will have to share a practice field with the baseball people. Easy, you may think…well, think again. Things can get pretty bloody where there are baseball mommies around. But where there is will there is a victory.
I don’t know a squat about soccer or baseball or at least I didn’t before I had read this book. And yet this story is so much more than just about soccer or baseball. There is hidden wisdom along the way, life lessons that you don’t want to miss. Sure, this is a book for teen/YA readers, but I don’t see a reason why adults couldn’t enjoy the story as well. I did.
This was a refreshing change and quite different from the YA books I normally read, and yeah also, because I absolutely love G. Mitchell Baker’s writing style. That said, if you have or happen to know a teenager who likes sport books with a couple of interesting twists, this book might be a perfect gift for them.

This review is from: Lethal Believers - The Innocents (Kindle Edition)
Today's post is on Lethal Believers: The Innocents by G.M. Baker. It is 215 pages long and is published by MasterKoda Publishing. The cover has the title and author name in white against a gray background with smoke and some kind of cross on it. The intended reader is someone who likes thrillers I think but I will get into that in my review. There is language, sex, talk of rape and child molestation, and violence in this book so beware. It is told from varying view point but I will get into that in my review as well. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From Goodreads- Malachi Danta-Mercadel, retired INTERPOL/Secret Service rails against the Mantid Tranquil organization bent on vesting a form of paranormal revenge, given Danta's handiwork for exposing Mantid's illicit operations. However, a certain intervention, with an intricate agenda, leaves both Danta and Mantid Tranquil not only at decisive odds, but also at the distinct disadvantage of an unsettled Myth.
Review- I feel bad about the review I am about to give. I was given an ecopy of this book to review for free and I am not going to give this book a good review. I cannot recommend this book. The plot makes no sense. I had and have no idea what was going on in the book. I do not know who the real killer was and what makes this worse is that I do not care. I do not care about any one of the characters. I did not feel that the characters were real. The dialogue was forced, confusing, and in some places just down right bizarre. There are time jumps that are unexplained and just serve to confuse the reader even more. Danta is, I think, supposed to be interesting and very smart but he was fake and boring. I was bored for some of this novel because it was un-understandable. I think that this was to be a thriller but it was too all over the place to be anything. At the end of the novel when the person convicted of the killings is hanged there is a weird paranormal something that I am not sure why it was in the novel. About the point of view; Baker goes from third person close to third person omniscient back to third person close again all within the same sentence. The other main character goes from being teacher to victim to killer all without the reader getting any hint as to why. I could go on but I am going to stop now. Maybe I am just not the intended reader for this book but I do not recommend this book.
I give this book One out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I was given this book in exchange for my honest review and this gives me no pleasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd give Lethal Believers DVM ten stars if possible!, August 25, 2013
By Jennifer Loiske (Naantali, Finland)
This review is from: Lethal Believers - DVM (Kindle Edition)
The first part of Lethal Believers Series was a great 5 star read but this second one...WOW! I'd give it ten stars if possible. Investigator Danta continues his battle against the evil, forming strange alliances as trying to help The Innocents. Danta teams up with Greek myth Lamia as they share a common goal. Protect The Innocents and fight on their behalf.
Ancient myths becomes alive, and a bed time stories are not just stories anymore when G. M. Baker skillfully entwines the story of Danta and the story of Kagan, her father Evan and a horse called Random together.
A very, very hooking story where every word matters and you simply cannot put it down until the book is finished! http://tinyurl.com/mkmgyym

GM Baker does not disappoint. In this continuing tale of protecting the innocents, Baker expertly takes the reader on a complicated journey. Don’t blink, you will most certainly miss something vital. This story is packed with mystery, suspense, and imagination. As in Baker’s first book, Lethal Believers – The Innocents, the reader is taken on a journey of discovery. Baker makes the reader ‘feel’ every emotion as the journey Danta must take unfolds. You will find yourself loving Random, hating Dr. Simmons, and mourning for Dante’s lost love, Pauline. But never lose heart, Baker has as many twists and turns for the reader as he does for his characters. I absolutely loved The Innocents, book one in the series, and I loved DVM just as much. I am looking forward to reading other books written by this very talented author. http://tinyurl.com/mkmgyym

WOW! I definitely give this book, "Lethal Believers DVM," a 5-star rating. This is a "edge of your seat" "page turner." Mr. Baker knows how to keep you interested and begging for more once you finish. You can't help but fall in love with Ms. Kagan. She s a spit-fire, loveable little girl that is not afraid to tell it like it is. There are some other characters that are not so endearing. There are unexpected surprises and at times you can't read fast enough to see what happens. I highly recommend this book...you won't be disappointed! http://tinyurl.com/mkmgyym

This is the second in the Lethal Believers series so I had a certain expectation going into the read. I was not disappointed. Mr. Baker continues to engage readers with his cryptic style and powerful storyline.
Mr. Baker is a master at shrouding the mundane in mystery and twisting the storyline so that the seeming unrelated...becomes oh so connected.
Although, `DVM' is strong enough to be read on its own merit...it flows nicely from `The Innocents'...with layers being added that enhance both reads. I highly recommend reading both of these engaging books! http://tinyurl.com/mkmgyym

Don't blink, you might miss something crucial! Lethal Believers: The Innocents is a unique and complicated story. I was hooked from the very beginning. G Mitchell Baker takes the reader on a journey so deep, I felt like I was a part of the story. The secrecy that each of the characters held, kept me moving through the story as though I was the one collecting the evidence, gleaning information vital to my own survival.
Mr. Baker writes expertly and very differently from any other author I have ever experienced, dropping clues very subtly so that I knew I did not want to miss even one sentence. And, just when I thought I had things all sorted out, Mr. Baker would throw in a curve ball! I found myself both loving and hating each character at different times in the story. I very much enjoyed the experience of reading this book, and I look forward to the next in the series.

5.0 of 5 Stars A Very Believable Lethal Twist!!, July 8, 2013
By aro (USA)
This review is from: Lethal Believers - DVM (Kindle Edition)
Just when you think you have read every possible story line or plot, a new twist of events and scenarios appears.
"Lethal Believers D.V.M." is an intriguing, well written story that will have you in the saddle riding Random with ease and roping steer with Evan. You will find yourself tearing up over Danta's deceased Pauline...or is she? You will cry for The Innocents and grow to have a very deep hatred for Dr. Gray Simmons and his staff, who do nothing to help.
The scene with Random is so real, so heartbreaking, so emotional that I'd suggest Kleenex. It is a rare author that can make me scream "NO!" out loud while reading.
Believable characters melded with an excellently interwoven plot make this a "must read" and a very difficult book to put down once started. G. Mitchell Baker writes with a style that gives an awesome visual of the characters as well as the surroundings. Congratulations on an excellent book!

5 of 5 Stars A Book of Choices, June 25, 2013
By Jane Cowart (Alabama)
This review is from: The Involvement of Emerson (Kindle Edition)
I finished reading this book on Father's Day which felt very fitting considering it relates to a father's involvement with his children. But it is more than that. It is a book of choices.
The theme of hitting rock bottom...as my mama would say...transcends to all areas of life. It is truly the place we as humans dread more than any other. But the thing about it is once you are there you only have two choices...stay where you are...or climb up.
Mr. Baker has woven the decline to the bottom and the subsequent choices into a compelling novel which kept my attention from the first page until the last sentence...and has me eager for the sequel. Well done Mr. Baker...well done.

This is a very moving and touching story about a man named Jon whose life was turned upside down. He meets a lot of different people who help him see life in a way he's never seen before. I felt as though I was on the journey with Jon seeing life through his eyes. This book had me laughing at times at the characters and their involvement in Jon's life. At other times it would bring tears to my eyes reading the experiences that these characters, along with Jon, had to go through. There is so much more I would love to say in order to get others to read this book, but I don't want to give too much away. This book is a must read! The author writes in such a way that you feel as though you know the characters personally. This book most definitely deserves a 5 star rating.

Lethal Believers is a well crafted piece of literature. It's not an easy read. There are parts to the story that require thought. I have to admit, I don't usually read this genre and I probably didn't understand everything that the book was trying to tell me. But that doesn't take away from the skill of the author to convene an idea, a thought and a moral.
I especially enjoyed how G. Mitchell Baker creates tension and conflict with short bits of dialogue between his characters. This technique kept the pages turning. There's a wonderful mystery to solve in the story. Readers who enjoy thought provoking and unique story line will enjoy this book.

The book grabs you and pulls you into the web of the story. Mitchell plucks the strings and toys with you as you go further into the story. Each chapter draws you deeper into the mind of G. Mitchell Baker as he tells a tale of deception and murder. Dante and Lamia were characters who you both fear and admire. The story line between Dante and Emerine was one that I found intriguing as I kept reading and learning more about their macabre dance. I won't give away any more but if you are looking for a real brain teasing thriller, then this is the book for you! If ever there was a book to give Stephen King a run for his money, this is the one! Great job Mitchell at creating a legend!

By Jane Cowart (Alabama)
This review is from: Lethal Believers - The Innocents (Kindle Edition)
If I had to sum up Lethal Believers in one word, it would be...edgy. Mr. Baker masterfully presents the controversial subject of child exploitation within the backdrop of the characters' faith, beliefs and resultant actions. Faith actions are portrayed as blurring the social codes of...right and wrong...leaving readers to determine if the end justifies the means.
Were the innocent punished? Were the guilty set free? For me there were no easy answers and the book left me with questions...what would I do in the name of my beliefs...my faith...the innocents? I look forward to the sequel as I contemplate my answers to these challenging questions.

Lethal Believers The Innocents is a suspenseful, thought provoking story that will grab you from the first page all the way to the end. I thoroughly loved reading this book. It kept me guessing throughout the entire book. The characters seemed so real. I had a love/hate relationship with some of them. I had to concentrate while reading and sometimes had to re-read certain parts because I wanted to make sure that what happened really happened. Don't pass up the opportunity to read this great book. The author should receive 5 stars for his brilliant story telling.
Definitely a 5 star rating for this book!

This review is from: The Involvement of Emerson (Kindle Edition)
I guess you can say this book has something to do with the American Dream. Having it or not having it. The have not's seem to be the least desirable choice but both are far from perfect. Having money does not exactly equal perfection. Life is not perfect nor are we.
At times this was a very difficult story to read because it was not pretty, neat and tidy. But for some people they have similar realities even though most of us prefer to look the other way. There are many things in this book that really had me thinking, even about my own life. It made me question some of my own choices and shortcomings.
This book really gets good when you see that there is possibly light at the end of the tunnel. But would there be a happy ending to this heart wrenching story? I figure that is for you to find out just as I have.
"Just when you think you have it all figured out, is exactly when you do not know anything at all. Be sure there will be a woman who will appear out of nowhere, to remind you of the same. I believe the principal is that of consistent inconsistency, often practiced by the very woman who remembered this crap enough to lecture me about it in the first place."

5 of 5 Stars Captivating!, June 2, 2013
By Jennifer Loiske (Naantali, Finland)
This review is from: The Involvement of Emerson (Kindle Edition)
The Involvement of Emerson is a journey to Jon Emerson's life. Inner battle what should be done and what not to help him become a better man. Wandering on the streets of Seattle Jon bumps into the people he normally would've walked passed without thinking them twice. But his new lifestyle and determination kind of forces him to acknowledge them and soon his previous quite meaningless relationships are exchanged into meaningful ones. Something real and honest.
G. Mitchell Baker has the talent to captivate the reader from the beginning. The story is exceptionally well written and draws you into the philosophical discussion what really is important in life and if there is a turning point to start taking control of your own life and start changing the course by deciding what do you really want to do with your own life.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who's wrestling with the core questions of life and need something intelligent to read.

I am intrigued and want to press on in my understanding of this notion of Lethal Believers

This review is from: Lethal Believers - The Innocents (Kindle Edition)
Lethal Believers: The Innocents is a paranormal mystery, with mythic character and elements I very much enjoyed reading. I will be reading this story again, to continue mining the extensively layered plot structure and the hard-line sometimes callous themes that run so deep into the kind of subject matter few authors have the courage to write about in this age of corporate, political correctness.
G.M. Baker writes about both the obvious and less apparent kind of Lethal Believer. Moreover, when he does write in such fashion, he challenges the reader to leave comfort zones, to think, it is as if he expects the reader to put in as much effort as he has given to his story. In addition, for all that, this reader felt rewarded with this well told tale of a Protector of The Innocents, who may in fact not be a perfect Protector as the marking of the man would first suggest, perhaps imply.
I am left, feeling compelled to read this story at least one more time, and to see if I will even begin to understand the complex Danta character. He first appears the strident protagonist, who at once is the stalwart Protector of The Innocents, and then at once a flawed character capable of drawing an extremely vindictive card to play against those who may attempt to wrack vengeance upon him and his family. Is it that the Protector of The Innocents has to first be a Lethal Believer, or, is it the Lethal Believer who in fact becomes the kind of Protector of The Innocents one would always want at their side?
For this reader, I have not yet decided, but I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge put upon me to read this story once again and to renew my attempt to position myself to try again to decide what now appears most difficult. This story exposes my hesitation for understanding, perhaps clearly defining Lethal Believers who can appear as both good and evil that is, until their agendas more fully reveal through their very acts, the true intention, and motivation in any given moment. I am intrigued and want to press on in my understanding of this notion of Lethal Believers and how they either fit in, or do not reconcile with who I am.

I was pleasantly surprised by Lethal Believers-The Innocents. It was unlike any book I have read in quite a while. It is very well thought out, extremely intelligent and it keeps you guessing throughout. It was very thought provoking, and was a book I actually had to pay attention to, which for me was refreshing. There are many interesting parallels that keep you trying to figure out who is who, and also creative parallels just in the writing alone. All in all, a great mystery mixed with a bit of paranormal that is believable! Great read!

Lethal Believers: The Innocents is an intellectual story that will keep you intrigued from the opening scene. G Mitchell Baker infuses clues throughout the story but the reader is kept speculating to the end. It is skillfully written with realistic characters and a plot that keeps the reader focused and anticipating the next turn. The emotional draw of the story evokes strong feelings and can make the reader uncomfortable at times, yet wanting to continue to the end. I look forward to more from Baker.

Lethal Believers: The Innocents is a very intelligent, sophisticated story but don't let that intimidate you, it is worthy of your complete concentration. I was pulled in by the compelling storyline. I just had to focus a bit harder than usual with this one because I didn't want to miss a thing. The author has a way with words and boy can he tell a story! This book was filled with twists and turns that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a fun, suspenseful ride that kept me guessing all the way through. Some people just have a gift and this writer most certainly does.
Here is a excerpt that I especially liked:
"You see, divorce triggers this insane process of undermining the role of the man, who is supposed to be the warrior, the provider. The system is set up to transfer all the power in the relationship to the woman, the Madonna, or princess, whatever the case may be. The system is oriented to undermine, to weaken the warrior, to exploit the provider and to transfer wealth to the woman, while still expecting the man to continue providing, even after the lawful castration is complete."

I gave this story five stars because I could feel the plight of the father through the colorful descriptions the author uses. Baker describes the father's experiences after losing all his material possessions His three daughters remain his only true and meaningful connection forever. I experienced all Jon's trials and tribulations while he manages to maintain a satisfying relationship with his daughters as a means of survival. Like me, readers will feel Baker projects compelling insight into a most contemporary issue.

5 of 5 Stars A great story with many layers March 25, 2013
By Jennifer Loiske (Finland)
Lethal Believers: The Innocents is a story with many layers. Partly a bit Sherlock Holmes-like, partly X-Files-like. After the explosive beginning followed by compelling action the pace varies from fast action, cold-blooded murder to smooth conversations between Julie Emerine and Danta, keeping the reader on one's toes and wanting to know more. The whole story holds a feeling of secrecy and well hidden conspiracy and some scenes are quite `movie-like', drawing the reader inside of the story and making them to feel like they're a part of the story.
Definitely something different from what I've read before as G. Mitchell Baker has a unique writing style and he drops clues about the plot along the way quite subtly, so that the reader does not want to miss a sentence but is obsessed to keep reading until the very end of the story.

Jacket Blurb, "The Involvement of Emerson, by G. Mitchell Baker, is an intensely cerebral story. Those who seek to understand the meaning of their existence are destined to discover, all life is a quest. Baker’s particular quest includes archetypal characters and classic mythology reminiscent of Joseph Campbell’s philosophies. It is also rich with symbolism reflecting Carl Jung’s journeys through the mind (dreams, myths, archetypes). The characters sprinkled generously throughout the story represent multilayered archetypes, each one necessary for the next rung on Baker’s ladder of self-discovery. From wealth and prominence, to rags and homelessness, the road taken here is often disturbingly uncomfortable. A good read, a bumpy ride, and a light at the end of the tunnel."
